About

Nothing is booked on a hope.

oabba is where Christian events get proposed, filled and ticketed. An organizer floats an idea before booking anything, people say whether they would come, and tickets go on sale once enough of them have — so a hall is booked against a headcount rather than against optimism.

Why we built it

The usual way round is to book a venue, put tickets on sale, and find out afterwards whether anyone was coming. That risk falls on whoever signed for the hall, which in practice means the events that need organising most are the ones nobody will organise.

So the order is reversed here. An idea is published first, people register interest, and a venue and a date are polled among the people who said they would come. Cards are filed at that point but nothing is charged until the organizer confirms — if the event never happens, there was never a payment to refund.

Who it is for

Anyone running a Christian event — a church, a ministry, a conference organiser, or one person with an idea and no budget to risk.

Attending costs nothing beyond the ticket. Browsing, registering interest and voting in a poll are all free.

What it costs

Proposing an event, gauging interest and polling a venue and a date are free. There is no charge for listing something that never sells a ticket.

Tickets carry a service fee, added on top of the price and paid by the buyer, so an organizer receives the full face value it advertised. Stripe charges its own processing fee directly and we never add to it; checkout shows the ticket, our fee and Stripe's as three separate lines before anyone commits.

Selling tickets has its own plan, because an inventory system, a saved-card vault and a review queue are a real product with a real cost. There is a free tier that publishes a few events a month and pays a higher fee per ticket, and paid tiers that publish more and pay a lower one. The pricing page has the current numbers.

Where we are

Event listings, interest and polling, ticketing with seats and promo codes, transfers, refunds and check-in at the door are all live today.

Church pages, giving, volunteers, livestreaming and venue rental are built and are not switched on yet. They ship after this launch rather than alongside it, because we would rather do one thing properly first.

We are a young platform and we would rather say what works than promise what does not. If something here does not do what this page claims, tell us and we will fix it or change the page.
