You still pay Stripe

Stripe charges 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment, debited from your own balance. That is Stripe's fee, not ours, and we never add to it. Checkout shows the ticket price, our service fee and Stripe's as three separate lines before anyone commits, so the buyer can see which company is charging what.

Why there is a fee at all

A ticket buyer is a stranger to us, buying from a stranger to us, using inventory, a saved-card vault, a review queue and a reporting desk that we run. That is a service with a cost, so there is a fee. It goes on top of the price, is paid by the buyer, and is shown as its own line at checkout next to Stripe's — and the rate depends on the organizer's plan, because a free plan has to pay for itself out of what it sells. The organizer receives exactly what they advertised either way.

Nobody is charged for an event that never happens

Events here are proposed before they are booked. People say they are interested, then reserve a seat and save a card — and no charge exists until the organizer has confirmed a venue and a date. If the idea does not reach enough people, or the organizer never finds a room, the saved cards are released and nothing was ever taken. There is no refund to chase because there was no payment.

Attending costs nothing extra

Browsing, saying you are interested, and voting in a venue or date poll are all free. The only thing a buyer pays beyond the ticket price is the service fee, and it is on the checkout screen before they commit.
